Brighton has a booming freelance and creative community, as well as a large student population, meaning there are lots of places to work and study across the city.

Most of the formal coworking spaces require a membership and the prices of these vary hugely, but some are on the lower end of the cost scale.

There are also numerous cafes and restaurants set up for customers with laptops which simply expect you to purchase a coffee in return for working there.

Oh, and some of the coworking spaces in Brighton even offer free day passes! How great is that?

This place is based in Hove and it’s got workspace available for anyone who’s a parent with nursery or school-age kids.

But you don’t actually have to have your kids in their nursery to use the space.

They’re open from 8 am to 6 pm, and you can book as much time as you need through their website.

Prices: £2.50 per hour for up to 5 hours, £2 per hour for 5 or more hours. £1 per hour if you’re a parent registered with children in their nurseries.

Brewdog Brighton

You might know Brewdog for its IPAs, but did you know that most of their pubs turn into coworking spaces during the day? How cool is that?

You can work in one of their bars and get unlimited coffee or tea all day. And when you’re done, treat yourself to a pint.

They’ll also take care of your bags if you need to step away from your table. Oh, and it’s dog-friendly too. You can pre-book online, and it’s available from open to 5 pm.

Prices: £10 per day or £60 per month. They have some special deals for students.

Freedom Works

Freedom Works has a location in Hove and other spots along the South Coast, including Worthing, Lancing, and Southampton.

What sets them apart is their flexibility. You can opt for hourly hot desk rates or permanent desks, so you only pay for the time you need.

They also offer bookable meeting rooms, phone booths, and boardrooms without any hidden fees.

Price: Starts at £10 for a half day of hot desking and goes up to £250 + VAT per month for a permanent desk.

Rockwater

This restaurant is next to the beach in Hove and it’s got a great vibe. You can enjoy a coffee while working in one of their comfy armchairs or the lounge area, where you’ll get stunning views of the ocean. It’s a pretty chill spot to get some work done.

Coppa Club

Located in Brighton’s lanes, this place is super friendly to remote workers like us. You can settle in, get your work done, and enjoy some tasty food and drinks while you’re at it.

Waterstones

Right in central Brighton, Waterstones has a cafe called Cafe W on the third floor. It’s normally quite busy which means its the perfect place if you like a bit of background buzz while you work.

Plus, you can take breaks and browse through some books. They serve up coffees and pastries, so you’ll be fueled up for productivity.

T@

If you’re into veggie and vegan food, T@ is the spot for you. They’ve got locations in both Brighton and Hove, and their food is amazing. And let’s not forget the cakes at T@, they are to die for!

The best part is that these cafes are spacious so you’ll have plenty of room to spread out and get your work done. They’re open later than most cafes so you won’t be rushed out when it hits 5pm. Plus, they’re dog-friendly, so you can bring your furry friend along for some company.

The Trading Post

Another cafe in central Brighton with a spacious upstairs set up for remote workers. The upstairs is generally full of people on laptops so you don’t have to feel conscious about working from there.

Werks Central is a great option if you’re looking for a free coworking space in central Brighton. The atmosphere is vibrant and creative, and they provide comfortable seating, high-speed internet, and refreshment facilities. I

t’s designed to foster productivity and encourage interaction among coworkers. And the best part? They have various locations across Brighton, Hove, and Lewes for you to choose from.

Price: £160 per month for unlimited access.

WRAP Brighton

Based on Brighton’s Queen’s Road, this coworking space is aimed at working parents trying to find some balance as it has an onsite nursery. There’s a family zone with regular events aimed at families.
